Whether quiet morning mist or crisp winter air, the Baltic around the Elfenschlucht is a real angling spot.
A hotspot, especially in the cooler months.
When the season quietens down, they all come: experienced anglers as well as beginners. The Lübeck Bay is one of the best fishing grounds in the north, with the Elfenschlucht as your base you are at the water in five minutes.

More than just fish.
The shallow water of the Lübeck Bay is a microcosm: shore crabs between algae and stones, shoals of herring in spring, flounder on the seabed and frequent encounters with gulls and terns above the waterline.
Common fish species.
Three methods, one stretch of coast.
Shore fishing
Straight from the beach, relaxed and productive.
Spin fishing
Along the cliff coast, with a view of the bay.
Boat fishing
On the open sea, for the somewhat bigger catch.
Fresh from the smokehouse.
What gets caught in the morning can be on the table steaming in the evening. On weekends we serve freshly smoked fish from Benno's smokehouse, eel, herring, mackerel straight from the wood fire.

Three things that help.
- 01
Early morning and late evening hours offer especially good chances for a good catch.
- 02
The quieter autumn and winter months provide ideal conditions when many fish stay close to shore.
- 03
Don't forget your valid fishing licence, info available at local fishing shops or online.
